1. When writing from a character's point of view, try to see the world through their eyes (personality, thoughts etc.)
2. Develop the plot of your story before creating your characters, title, and setting.
3. If you need inspiration, music is a great way to get ideas. Listen to a favorite song, favorite artist, or just any music. Music inspires us!
4. Base characters off of real people. Give your characters the same personality's as who they are based off of because that makes it easier to relate to the characters in your writing.
5. Write with emotion! You have to feel the pain, the sadness, the anger, the happiness-- whatever emotion your character is writing, that way you can make your stories emotional and make the readers feel the same way. -
1. Who's lens would I usually be seeing through? Mine? Shouldn't a good story be constantly tinted by the main characters biases?
2. I'm going to disagree here. While I agree an outline of the plot is important, and you should never write without knowing how you'll end a story, character is the most important aspect. Plot should flow from the actions of the character, and fit their beliefs. Write the plot around the character, not the character around the plot, because that just ends with terrible characters.
3. I find music distracting.
4. Good advice, bad reasoning. It's much more efficient to simply say 'write what you know.'
5. How does one write with emotion? I'm genuinely curious here. What devices does one have to use to have an 'emotional' story? -
1. I agree. If you're looking through a person's eyes and embodying them-selves in the plot of the story, might as well.
2. Honestly, I'd have to say this depends on your writing style, but I agree with IHLAOY. Partially.
3. B---- please. I already found this out on my own.
4. Honestly, I usually inject aspects of other, pre-existant, characters and real people into my own, and then give them the tone of what-ever I please.
5. If you're a good actor, you may be able to pull this off. If not, nope.
Good advice, over-all. -
