The sun was shining, the birds singing, cats purring and dogs barking, it was a perfect day today. Well, almost.
It was extremely loud for those who were confined inside of the hospital room. The babies' shrill shrieks and cries were high pitched, the poor things probably almost breaking their own little ears along with the nurse holding them. This nurse had pale lips, white skin, curly blonde hair, and a ton of unnecessary makeup on.
One of the other nurses who had been assigned to help the babies' mother, Rosette Lily Carlotta give birth was now in the corner with her hands over her ears. The nurse's short black hair was a mess because she had been tugging at it all morning; her small body hunched up into something you could say was close to a ball. Her hawk like eyes were on the shaking hand that was writing a name on the first birth certificate. The nurse was devastated with how long it was taking.
The certificate read Wendy Dark Miko Carlotta. With signs of red hair on the top of the bigger baby's head, Rosette couldn't help but be reminded of Wendys. The child had the brightest little blue eyes, a rosy touch to her lips like her hair, and two off things normal kids wouldn't have. A set of little ginger fuzzy cat ears sat on the top of her head, and a little ginger tail was poking out of the blanket Wendy was wrapped up in.
Rosette wasn't surprised. Neither were the two nurses. In fact, they looked as if this was normal. But Rosette was slightly upset. She felt ashamed that her child was going to be named after a fast food restaurant, and even more ashamed that her middle name was evil sounding.
With a still shaking hand, Rosette slowly pushed the paper into the far corner of the table that was attached to the bed she was in. Rosette was irritated because her husband was off at work. Why, she had to drive herself to the hospital, or the two children there now wouldn't have been there.
The second certificate read Briar Bright Carlotta. There wasn't anything special to it, except for her middle name. The young female smiled in satisfaction. Wendy and Briar. Dark and Bright.
Briar had signs of black hair on the top of her head, like her father's. She wasn't screaming as loud as her older sister. She had chocolate brown eyes, Caucasian skin, and a black set of cat ears and a tail. Yet again, Rosette wasn't surprised.
Rosette herself had blonde hair. It was very curly, despite the fact it was wet with sweat. Her eyes were a crystal blue, pale like the rest of her, and she was fairly skinny. Wendy was more like Rosette than Briar was.
However, the mother knew with great regret that she'd have to give up one of the babies, at least for a few years. Rosette remembered the warning from her old friend very clearly;
"The first child I lay my eyes on that you have will be mine. Any other I will seek out to kill."
Quietly, she called over to the nurse that was holding them. She took the kids in her arms and stared at them. Who did she want to live, and who did she want to be taken?
Anri suggested that I should add details to the characters, and so I did. Anything else to add? -
Oh. My. Gosh.
It's beautiful! I totally love it! Great story! My own writing totally sucks. -
I think I've improved. This is a re-write of a book I had started in first person, but I think I do much better in third. Thank you. x3
I might end up posting each chapter, but since my goal is to get it published, it'd be a shame to put it all online and then see someone else copy and claim it as their own. -
:o amazing!
-
*smiles* very good Cat. Very good.

And here's the first chapter. This is all I'm going to release. I have the second chapter going, but I'm worried about posting it.
Chapter 1
Five years later
Briar is nowhere to be seen, a secret to all but Rosette..
Wendy, now five years old, was scouting the forest with wide eyes. Her small, dainty little hands ran over the different trees barks as she felt for any differences. She knew every last tree that was within this forest. It was like she had memorized each aspect of them. But this was her routine, and she tried to forget them each morning to play the game once more.
All around her, there wasn't a single area that didn't have some sort of forest life. Birds were singing and chirping to each other from different tree tops. Some had red breasts, others blue or gold. Little insects like ladybugs or bees buzzed while lazily flying through the air to some unknown goal. A squirrel would scamper across the road from time to time.
Wendy had already seen most of it, and being a young girl who quickly lost interest, she didn't bother watching the forest animals for too long. Instead, she walked down her favorite path, thinking about her future.
She imagined herself being older, still running around this forest, discovering new things. She guessed her dark red hair would be long, and if she went running, it would spiral behind her like a short cape.
Wendy brought herself back to reality as she looked up at the first sun. This sun was the one regular people saw- And it really did hurt your eyes. She winced, looking away. The second sun caught her eye.
The second sun had vibrant purple and blue colors that made it so it wouldn't hurt to look at it. This sun provided the realm the natural elements of life; Wind, water, earthquakes, rain, thunderstorms, lightning storms, fire, ect. Without it, the first sun would be a humiliation. And no one would be alive.
She stared hard at the second sun. It seemed, for a slight moment, to be bowing to her. She smiled in slight satisfaction and ran off through the trees.
Wendy ran until she spotted a familiar rock jutting out of the trees. She ran through a couple of bushes until she reached it. The rock was at an angle, like a fat 3D model of an arrow. Its height ranged from one foot at the bottom to about ten feet where it jutted.
The little cat girl eagerly sprinted to the top of the rock, standing to the point where her feet were at the edge. The view was perfect. She saw the long rows of trees, and in a clearing, her house. She couldn't sort out the colors but knew the house was painted blue and white.
Beyond the house was a magnificent castle, much taller than any of the trees in the forest. (Although Wendy didn't know how to count that high, she knew it was tall, like a lot of houses stacked on top of each other that added up to lots of zeros.)
Wendy was proud that the castle was so tall. It would be her castle. For quite a few generations, the Carlotta family had been of royal blood, and they all ruled over the castle. Wendy was the youngest of her three older siblings.
First came Xander, who was sixteen. He had left his family years ago and no one really ever thought about him after that. Second was Hyru, who was thirteen. She was the oldest of the females and kids that were around to take control of the castle. Third was Asuska, who was only twelve. He and Xander were the only boys in the family. Fourth was Wendy, who was five. And if Briar had been there, she was the youngest, but five like her twin.
For as long as the family could remember, they were a breed of demons known as Cards. Each descendant had a power that was classified under the name of a card. The card that the descendant was classified under also gave them odd features, such as Wendy and Briar having cat ears.
Her eyes bright, stretching as tall as she could be, Wendy yelled, "I'mma be a pretty little princess when I grow up, and no one can stop me-"
Wendy was interrupted as she leaned forward too much and fell off the rock. Someone darted out from behind a tree, catching her just before she hit the floor. She blinked, looking at them, until it registered in her head that it was her older brother Asuska. The familiar brown eyes and hair black as a raven was coming into view.
"Dark, you know how I don't like to get into trouble because of you, right? Would you please grant me that wish and be calm for once?" He scanned Wendy's face for a serious reaction. Or a reaction at all. Wendy scowled, muttering, "I do know. It's because you're a butt, and because you're a goody-goody."
Asuska set Wendy down, his face a dark red. She couldn't tell whether it was from embarrassment or anger. She decided to continue being mad that he was blaming her.
"You've never lied, you're always on time, you've never stolen or done anything like that that normal brothers do! And you're always stalking me like you're waiting for me to mess up or somethin-" She was cut off as a hand thrust at her chest. She stumbled back into a tree.
Asuskas eyes were no longer brown, but a dark shade of red that meant that he was in demon mode. He slowly placed a hand on Wendy's stomach, pinning her to the tree. She cringed.
"Don't you dare try to rub it in, Wendy. You're the kid who's pampered, adored by our parents. Mom has admitted that you're her favorite. I don't know why, because all you are is a snobby brat that does stupid things to get our parents attention. I do my best to try to get mom and dad to pay attention to me, okay? Yet they hate Hyru and I, and it's all because you exist." He inhaled. "You're lucky you're a favorite of theirs. I have no one."
Wendy bit her lip as he pulled his hand away. Pain, humiliation, and horrible realization hit her head like an anvil. She had been ignoring the fact that she was just a pampered kid, and although she didn't understand some of what Asuska had said, she knew enough. It hurt. Of course, poor Wendy had been shoved into a tree.
But the feelings hurt worse than her back. -

Chapter 3
It seemed like several minutes had passed before anyone spoke a word
Caine stared at the house while he whispered, "I'm so sorry, Wendy. I couldn't lose you too." Wendy glared at him, sitting on the grass, pulling her legs up to her chest. He decided that it was better to tell her something that could save her life now.
"Look, Wendy, you can't stay here. The house wasn't burned down because of any natural cause. Your mother was threatened years ago by someone we used to be friends with. If you don't run, he'll take you. I know he only left so he could search for you-"
"You can't get your daughter to run, Caine. You're much too late for that." A sharp, cold voice cut the older male off before he could finish.
Wendy scooted her body so she could see who had been the source of the voice. A man was leaning against a tree not too far from her. His golden colored eyes were raking across Wendy's face, down her body. He had jet black hair, hair dark as night, as dark as his long sleeved shirt that covered most of his upper body. Tight skinny jeans clung to his long legs, and he seemed to be wearing boots that made him even taller.
Caine had a horrified look plastered onto his face as he watched the other stride across the field over to Wendy. She looked between both his and her father's faces, trying to uncover the secret they were sharing. The kids looked to one another for help but got nothing.
"I'm so glad that you came on your own accord, Wendy Dark Miko Carlotta," he murmured as he stared down at her. "My name is Crow. And from this point on, you belong to me, little demon."
Asuska's hands clenched into fists. He moved forward as if he was going to punch the living daylights out of crow, but Caine held him back.
Wendy shivered, despite the fact that there was a smoldering hot fire burning behind her. She felt Crows warm hands wrap around her little waist as she was lifted up into the air.
"You better swear that you're going to watch my little sister, jackass!" Asuska screamed at him. "You better swear that you're going to let her keep her innocence, or I'm going to find you one day and slit your throat open!"
Although Wendy didn't understand what her innocence could have possibly been, she understood the importance of Asuska's screaming.
Crow smirked at Caine, holding Wendy tightly as he walked away from the still burning clearing. He wasn't going to let her go after all of the hassle it took to get her away from her family. She could feel how hard he was straining to keep her from running away.
"Don't drop me," She said with the scariest face she could come up with. "Or I'll bite you." Crow laughed at her weak attempt to act brave.
"Sweetheart, I wouldn't ever drop you on purpose. You dont need to act like I would. I might do it on accident, though."
"I want to explain this in the most detailed way possible. You're only five, and so it'll be really hard for you to understand, but you better be paying attention. I should start from the beginning. You're probably wondering how I got here, why, and all of that. Let me answer that. I got here by truck, I was looking for you, and now you get to know what your life will be like from now on.
"I used to be your mother's boyfriend. Don't give me that face, its not gross. And guess what? Hyru is my daughter, not Caine's. Stop giving me faces and listen. Your father, Caine, took Rosette away from me years ago. It was horrible, realizing that I could have lost her like that from the beginning. I was so shocked, and so devastated. But I threatened her. I wanted someone that would remind me of her, and of course, who better than a daughter of hers? Not Hyru, but another. You were born and that sealed your fate."
Crow looked at the trees, allowing Wendy time to think. Most of the words she had caught gave her part of the big picture. She was still confused with some things, but thought it would be better to play it safe and be quiet.
She noticed how far they had gotten in a matter of five minutes. The trees that she was used to seeing were disappearing, getting thicker with darker leaves. It was colder. Wendy found herself shivering.
After a moment of silence, Crow stopped, setting the young girl down on a pile of leaves. He slipped a hand into his pocket until he was able to fish out a small red pill.
Using a hand to gently pry Wendys mouth open, he dropped it into her mouth. Crow watched with satisfaction as she was forced to swallow it.
"That pill will tap into your demon abilities and make it so you're no longer a little girl. I have no clue what age it'll turn you into, so for all I know, you might be a forty year old woman in the next few minutes."
Wendy stared at him, horrified, as she wondered what was in the pill. She had already hated pills as it was, and being forced to take them was not an option for her. Especially when it involved missing quite a few birthdays.
She let out a little gasp as she felt her stomach churn. Her eyes flickered with terror as her hand felt like it was burning. This sensation spread over her whole body. She screamed loudly as worse pain spread, and as she began to grow bigger in size. Soon, Wendy was no longer a little girl, but a very confused teenager.
Wendy winced as she felt new things flow into her mind, such as what was going on, and how to comprehend the problem. She looked at her hands and arms, gawking at how long and slender they were.
Crow watched her face as she looked up at him. She looked frightened. It made him feel somewhat guilty that she wasn't so small anymore, but he liked how good she looked compared to what she had been.
Slowly, before Wendy could process what he was doing, he leaned forward and kissed her. Her eyes widened. Slowly, he used his tongue to push her lips apart. She felt her heart race as his tongue slipped into her mouth.
The two had a tongue fighting contest. After a while, Wendy pulled her head away to breathe. Crow wrapped his arms around her waist with a grin of approval. Wendy put a finger to her lips, feeling the warmth on them.
