I'm thinking it will be a teenage Bonnie and Clyde story with sadomasochism. Maybe not the best idea, the only real twist is that it will be a school shooting as opposed to bank robberies. The characters will also be at least losely based on the Columbine murderers.
I've been trying to decide on an idea for awhile, and I always kind of thought it would be pretty dark. So now that I have a basic idea, I'm wondering how I should write it. Should it be written in chronological order or out-of-sequence with flashbacks? Should I use first person or third person narration? If I do third person, should the narrator be inside their heads or not? I won't be making any decisions based on what you say, but I wanna hear your thoughts anyway, cuz I'm still very early in the idea formulation process and heck, maybe you guys might have a decent idea or two. -

well if you're going to do like bonnie telling her side and the clyde telling his side then yes do a third person naration. if you are just having one person do it than do first person. you can do both flash back and chronilogical if you like and yes the narator should be in the heads of the characters so the reader doesnt get confused

I've pretty much trashed the idea. I really don't find it compelling enough, and I don't really have a clear idea of what I want to say with this book, like the point I'm trying to make. I'm not possessed enough by the idea.

dani123 JuniorI think first person would be great for a dark story. Plus you can relate to the character a lot more. Writing in present tense and the flashbacks would be in past tense. What I do to make a story more compelling is use a lot of description and emotional language. I'm not a big fan for separate POV's (as suggested for Bonnie & Clyde) but that is subjective and up to you.
