Thread Topic: Changing usernames?
-
I wish there was an option for it...
as pointless as it seems, but still. -
Yeah i really wish to change my user name too.. Can you do something gtq guy?? Pleeaase?!
-
i think that'll be cool if we could change our usernames.
-
But it would be confusing.
-
Sometimes it'd be confusing though. There'd have to be a time limit (ex. you can only change it every six months) or a certain status level to reach.
-
yeahbuddy Noviceu could just make another account and say ur other account is what it is now

Have you ever considered the negative effects of being able to change your username? EVERYONE would become anonymous. You wouldn't know who you were talking to unless they decided to tell you. Not to mention the trolls would take other people's names. Or would be able to change to whatever they wanted if you started to hate them. Creepy stalkers would be able to follow people without being noticed. Spam couldn't be traced. We would have anarchy. Chaos. A complete melt down of the system. I say NO. We don't need to change our user names. Let us keep the one form of structure we have left!

Bob- Some of that could be avoided. For the first few weeks of the username being changed, it could say so on the profile.
For example:
NewUsername
~Formerly OldUsername
And just like we can't make our original usernames the same as another's username, the changed username couldn't be the same as someone else's. Nobody else could be barberbob2.
I'm not saying I agree with the idea of changing our usernames, and I agree with you on quite a few of your points. I'm just stating that the name changing feature would most likely have requirements and a more orderly system than what you said. There would, most likely, be a few small problems. But there would be benefits as well. -
Bob explained it perfectly.
