We should have little signs in the GTQ forums saying:
DON'T FEED THE TROLLS!
Sometimes on GTQ there will be pointless threads,
someone pretending to be something they aren't,
or someone trying to cause trouble by harassing,
annoying, pretending to be, or threatening other
users. These kind of users are called trolls. They
are just trying to get attention. Please don't react
to their behavior. If you see a troll, report it in
FeedBacks and Updates. Otherwise, please ignore
the trolls or they won't stop. Thank you for taking
your time to read this and for your corporation.
Sincerely, the Moderators. -
As a member who has been on the forums for five years, I do not believe people would read it. Hear me out for a moment.
Half of the users that join haven't even bothered to read our forum rules, let alone check how to contact GTQ Guy. Many have to figure out that the website even.. Has moderators, unfortunately. We've just kind of taken it upon ourselves to explain to people personally not to feed the trolls. And even then, people ignore our warnings with our cute "Moderator" box posts, so we have to lock posts or repeat ourselves until people get the point.
However, assuming people would see it, I believe a smaller shout out would work. A simple, "If you believe a user is a troll, do not attempt to reason with them. Simply report his or her username in Feedback and Updates and wait for a moderator to take action." Perhaps the setup could be something like the "Remember" box that is underneath every post, explaining basic forum rules. -
Yeah. That's what I was going for. Sorry that I made my version too long. Though, the forum rules are in Feedbacks and Updates. And they are written in gigantic paragraphs. So it takes a lot of time and patience to read them if you find them. That's why no one reads them unless they have a small piece of info they need.
If you had a simpler, easier to read version of that thread pinned in a more active thread like the lounge, a lot more people will read it. That's why I suggested a sign like this in each forum. -
No, it's fine. You had the right intentions. :) I'm just suggesting a smaller version because people are more likely to read a smaller amount of words than large paragraphs.
Actually, forum rules are located on their own page! The threads pinned in Feedback and Updates are information and q&a's that I myself made. It's more or less a way for me to quickly glance at them and report to someone who has questions.
I can make and pin a thread with a general PSA about trolls, considering the Lounge is the most attacked forum, but I feel like it'll just clutter it. As it is, I'm thinking about unpinning my roleplaying guide in the Stage to keep it from being cluttered. -
Ok.
Though, there was one good thing from a user who often trolls on here. 1714 once suggested that we choose designs for our threads when we make them. Just like how we do with our quizzes. That would be pretty cool! -
Speaking of trolls... Spotted a new one in the Lounge.

Why not feed the trolls? We want to end poverty right?
