1- A moderator is just your average user with a slight buff, they are able to delete posts and penalize offensive users... Normal users can do this too but it will take much much longer than moderators
2- Moderators were picked after normal users nominated whom they thought were fit enough for the job. Gtq Guy himself decides eventually who will become the moderator
3- Like I said at the begin, Moderators' jobs are to monitor the forums and ensure that everyone is abiding with the rules of Gtq. Battling spammers and verbal users is just an almost everyday thing we doModerator -
1. What is a mod?
A moderator, or mod for short, is a user that moderates forums and online discussions.
2.How did you become a mod?
A year or two ago (I think?) GTQ Guy implemented his first moderators. Many users recommended others for this but it was ultimately GTQ Guy's choice. He checked out the recommendations, viewed over their posts, and picked eight of the recommended people. I can find the threads for you, where moderators were recommended and where he listed his choices for the first round of moderation. Now, current moderators are allowed to recommend users they think can contribute to the site. We've been giving him lists of people that are similar to us; online constantly, understanding, ect. He then picks from those people.. Or we're planning on that, anyway. He might also pick someone we didn't recommend.
3.What do you do as a mod?
The definition of a moderator is someone who moderates forums and discussions. What does moderate mean? "Make or become less extreme, intense, rigorous, or violent." We have to moderate what users do. If they're being violent, we have to stop that. If they're posting offensive or sexual photos, we delete it. We also are allowed to stop fights if they get too big, shut down revolts, and we help newer users enjoy their stay at the forums. Just remember, we treat you for what you are. So if you act like a major dick, we will treat you like a major dick. If you like to troll, we will treat you like one for however long you act like one. As long as you act like a pleasant person, you will be treated as one, and hopefully we won't have to mark your posts. -
