Thread Topic: So I need a little help with this.

So this guy (J) and I were best friends for about a year.
Then in August, we started dating.
Then all of a sudden a few days ago, J's parents said that he couldn't have a girlfriend (they had reasons, even though I don't really agree (also the reasons didn't have anything to do with me, actually)).
So we're basically on a break until his parents give the ok, and then we'll be back together.
But the thing is what do I call him when I'm talking to other people? I keep on automatically calling him my boyfriend. But his parents said that he couldn't have a girlfriend, which means that he's not my boyfriend anymore. But I wouldn't consider him an ex, and I feel like he's more than just a friend or a best friend. -
🍭 it all just depends on how you'd like to refer to him, but friend or best friend would probably be the best option if you can't say boyfriend. you could also ask j what he thinks about it!
-
Yeah talk to him and see what he thinks!
-
Yeah, maybe.
Unfortunately they didn't come up with a term for this situation lol -
True lol
-
Why not call him your something, If someone asks you can say it's an inside joke and something standing for significant other
-
I know that if someone asks me if I have a boyfriend, I can just say, "I'm taken."
-
True
-
But like when I'm telling someone about him, I don't know what to refer to him as. He's more than just a friend to me, so I don't know.
-
He's your special someone
-
I agree with spice ^ that works
-
I like that, maybe I'll use that.
