i've been on a relationship on here before so like
honestly, i've never let my family know about my partner (pretty much because i'm not even allowed to talk to people online.) but if they did know, 100%. it's just like if i had an irl partner. if my family insulted them, i would most definitely protect-/defend my partner. i love my family, but they're insulting someone who doesn't deserve it, then they're the ones in the wrong. i would also want the same, because if not, then i would feel invalidated due to the fact that my partner would literally be letting their family insult me -

I'd defend my partner unless I thought the criticism was fair. Even then, I'd have a problem with someone outright attacking them.
