Why is it so satisfying to specify with great detail and label, therefor limiting, your sexual and/or romantic preferences? I honestly don't get it. "Hi, I'm Bob, and I'm a biromantic asexual!" Now, I'm not insulting people with this label, but why not just say, "Hey, I'm Bob, and I fall in love with boys and girls, but I don't enjoy sex with anyone." Or, better yet, wait until you get to know someone better and explain your preferences, rather than proclaiming labels everywhere? I personally feel like people do it because they feel smart when they use fancy words and limit preferences. What if tomorrow you're attracted to something different, and the next day something else? What's the point of narrowing down your likes until you're balancing yourself on a f---ing tightrope?
I'm not trying to offend people who like these labels. I'm just genuinely curious as to why. It's not like this is some huge shameful act to protest against or anything. I just don't understand it and it'd be helpful if someone would explain. -
