  I think it's interesting that neither person has anywhere they can go. They are trapped where they are standing. They can either waste away standing there looking at each other from a distance. Or they can accept their fate and give in to reality. But there is another solution. A cross between the two. Where if both people decide to hit reality head on, they can meet up. Even if their time together is cut tragically short. They'd be sharing a drink they call death. But it's better than dying alone.
