Thread Topic: What is the best way to develop a style?
-
Lately I've been trying to figure out how I can make my own drawing style so I can start doing art for me and my friends. However I've noticed all I know how to do is "anime," but I want to try drawing some other way like cartoon or something. So how can I take a style like that and make it my own?
-
it's really hard to describe, but just keep doing it. keep drawing. practicing. as time goes on and you just keep going at it, you'll notice a pattern. use references, but don't copy other people's style. try out different ways of drawing, like anime and realistic, and see what you like best and roll with it
-
Just draw what you think looks nice. And if your style is "anime", why change it? If it looks good to you and you enjoy drawing it, then keep going. Don't feel too pressured.

Take inspiration from other people's styles and look through various different pieces of artwork/media of your range of interest. Picking out the pieces you especially like inside these and transform it to make it your own by combining and altering can also help you find your style as well as looking at your own interests.
Honestly, just have a play around for a bit to see what you like together and what you don't. Most styles develop naturally so in time, you'll find it. As long as you enjoy it, it should be okay. -
^don't even bother with their suggestions
There's no "unique" art style, somewhere out there probably has a similar style due to the same influences.
anyways, to crush dreams and to be a pretentious f-----
{drawing is dead
drawing is dead} -
one prime example:
SO UNIQUE!!!!! 💦😖
honestly art is just a general concept that incites intellectual or non-intellectual meaning and depth
if your s--- has something to say or can make someone think about what you made, it's gr8 m8
i am not one of those old farts that wish that the renaissance period of paintings and other artwork will take back reign again, but seriously
most s--- I see doesn't make me feel anything, it's there to just look visually appealing and that's it -
A style doesn't necessarily mean something that is completely 100% your own. It can also be something you enjoy working on and brings you pleasure or draws out whatever else you wish to bring from it. Things that fit to your standards or whatnot. Simple as that. Lol
Anyway, nobody has to agree with my idea, it was just advice I'd been given so lol, all goods man~ -
but everything has already been done, how could drawing anime be stimulating? it's one of THE MOST SATURATED art style I have ever seen, it's so pervasive and used to death that is became it's own damn meme
:( so yeah, draw whatever crap that comes out of your mind -
Monochrome Ninja NewbieJust keep drawing. Find out and experiment with what is easiest for you to draw but looks best as well. It wont be crystal clear at first, obviously. It will take A LOT of time. Sometimes an art style that you really like just wont be your thang. f---, practically everybody wants to draw anime, but its just not for them. they can spend years trying to replicate the style but with no luck. Just keep experimenting with what works best for you and mix and match.
