First, test that your doll's makeup isn't ruined by water. I suggest taking something like a q-tip or your pinky finger and wiping the lips, as the lips are very easy to repaint.
Next, wash your doll's hair. You may use shampoo or just regular soap.
The last part is to simply apply conditioner to your doll's hair. Lot's of it. Don't be afraid if it doesn't all wash out. I usually don't rinse it all out, myself. You should see an immediate change in hair quality. If this isn't satisfying enough, wait a week and do these steps again.
As you can see, this is a very easy way to improve doll hair.
I have two Barbie dolls, Lisa and Emily. They both used to have horrible hair. I conditioned Lisa's hair and, after a month, conditioned it again and trimmed it. Lisa had unbelievably soft hair. I conditioned Emily's hair just yesterday and plqn on doing it again soon.
Do be aware that that your doll may not have as curly hair as she used to, but you can always by doll hair curlers or curl it again some other way. -
*Note: DO NOT use a heated curling iron to curl the hair, and DO NOT blow dry the hair dry.
