Okay, for anyone who doesn't know, a Mary Sue/Gary Stu is a character who is created to be absolutely perfect in any way (see: godplay) or annoyingly unique. These characters are often original characters, based off of a show, book, etc. Here's an example of one I created forever ago.
Anyway, I'm asking you to create one, complete with a reference sheet and an overly dramatic backstory. The character can be any species you choose. If you create the character based on something else, please say so. Um, I'm not sure what else to say, so ask questions if you need to. So, rules.
-You may use bases, as long as you put effort into making them look finished. This means that you can't just drag the line creator tool across the character's body to create hair or clothing lines, because hair and clothing do not always stick right to the body. If you do this, you should have a reason for the character having such flat hair or skin-tight clothing.
-You may not have someone else draw your entire reference sheet. This includes using dress-up or character creation games. Feel free to use these to design your character, but draw them yourself or use a base for your entry.
-You may not submit previously created characters. Make a new character for this! It's more fun that way.
-You must submit a visual reference sheet, not just a detailed description. Blind me with your terrible color choice, don't make me imagine it myself! Make me feel like I stumbled across deviantART's front page, instead of a poorly written fanfiction description. Bonus points for making me laugh, cry, or shudder from secondhand embarrassment.
Oh, and you guys want to know about prizes, right? Here we go.
First Place: Reference sheet of your preferred character OR a detailed drawing of your preferred character and your Mary Sue/Gary Stu, and two chibi pieces of your preferred character
Second Place (only if five or more people enter): Two chibi pieces of your preferred character
Third Place (only if ten or more people enter): A chibi piece of your favorite character
Please submit with a sta.sh (accessible with a deviantART account) or a postimage.org link to the reference sheet, with the backstory and other information posted below the link. You should also include a link to information/references for your preferred character. If it's a long description, write that and I'll contact you afterward.
The contest ends at midnight on Saturday, August 23rd, which means you have a week to complete this. Have fun, and good luck! -

That's good because I've got my artwork. I just really don't understand the concept of a Mary Sue. What exactly is that? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Annoying, over flamboyant character. Think of every annoying main character put together as one, throw a scene kid in, then dump a bag of confetti on the character. Does that help at all?

I'm sorry everyone, but after growing a more distinct understanding of what a Mary Sue/Gary Stu character actually is, I have to say that making one is against my religious beliefs and am going to have to step out.
