EUUUUGHHH TING, YOU DREW THAT?
I know, I'm weeping too. I drew that without using guidelines at all in like a minute or something idk it's not important
point is that guidelines are helpful tools if you choose to use them, especially for people who aren't familiar with proportions because if you figure out how the proportions are using guidelines, you'll be able to figure out how to place any part anywhere, whether you're drawing ponies or people or robots or whatever. seriously, professionals use guidelines
here's the same picture redrawn with guidelines, it's still ugly but i didn't want to spend too much time on something just ot prove a point.
huge difference right? I figured out where s--- goes using guidelines, while they're not for everyone, it's good for reference because not everyone's going to know the proportions all the friggin time
you can see that I outlined the ribs so i can figure out where the bend is, and the lines on the face so i can figure out where to PUT the face
and the lines and circles on the joints so i know where everything connects and stuff
HOWEVER just because you use guidelines doesn't guarantee your art will become perfect, you need to know HOW to use the guidelines, which can take a bit of practice but it becomes a wonderful wonderful tool.
TL;DR GUIDELINES ARE VERY IMPORTANT DO NOT NOT USE THEM BECAUSE YOU THINK THEY'RE FOR BABIES BECAUSE PROFESSIONALS USE THEM TOO AND THEY MAKE YHOUR ART LOOK MUCH BETTER. -
Guidelines r life.
