I give up.
I used to borrow people's artwork for roleplays. Obviously this was harmless, you know, just a reference. I was complained at repeatedly, so I went to trying to sketch my characters, or use bases.
Apparently my art is s--- so I quit. -
I don't know what's going on and what the relevance is but whoever's telling you your art is s--- can go f--- themselves with a cactus with superglue as lube as everyone's on different skill levels and not everyone has had the same advantages, they have no right to tell you your art is s--- if they're s--- themselves.
As for borrowing, it's harmful to the artist because no one ever knows the source and it winds up being a lost piece of art, there is no problem with you using it as a reference as long as you can state the source. I can think of a couple times when people have "borrowed" my artwork and reposted it without credit and it became a case of theft.
