Astarum Lupus-A fox-like story 2-

Quiz Image

First of all, I would like to state that this is a tale of wolf/fox like creatures that worship the stars, and that this quiz will make no sense unless you read the first one, titled 'Astarum Lupus-A fox-like story-'. I would copy what I wrote for the beginning of the first one, but I haven't enough room, and no matter what attempt I shall ever make, that is highly unlikely to change. So, I apologize for the inconvenience, but I shall recap what has happened so far in the second paragraph. Good luck, and see you in the next two lines.

Hello again. Welcome to the second paragraph of my second quiz. Shall we begin with the recap? Indeed. Astarum has just recently been rid of a few dozen thorns, caused by a wolf named 'Rho', and has gotten into a bit of an 'argument' with one of his friends, 'Light'. And last, but definitely not least, the current Star Speaker is now announcing that the legendary Black Wolf is supposed to appear soon. And..... That's it. Good luck, please comment, and have a good time.

  1. "The Black Wolf will soon be upon us!" The darkly colored Star Wolf announced, standing alone upon the cold, rocky ground, the other wolves in a circle about him, several paces back. "So say the stars!" The speaking wolf was Trenare, the current Speaker of the Stars. Though his fur was the darkest among the group of wolves, he was not the melanistic wolf that arrived every few hundred years, and ruled the group. No, he was not the Black Wolf, but one who only dimly heard the Stars, and could not answer them. But he had seen, he had heard. The Stars, the Moon, that is, Luna Lupus, spoke of the coming of the Black Wolf, and knew it to be soon. Astarum, a small, somewhat darkly furred wolf lay upon the stony ground, his limbs splayed out about him, and his eyes half closed. He was completely exhausted from his previous activities, which included having about a dozen thorns pulled out of his tail, one by one, being frightened half to death, and being scolded by his friend, Light. His other friend, Occuli, was standing at his side, and on the other side, Rho, a somewhat unfriendly wolf who would rather kill him than be considered his friend, stood, a somewhat odd expression on her face, and her mud-colored fur raised slightly. Speaking of mud, Occuli was covered in it, and some of it had dripped onto Astarum's pelt. He just had time to think of this when his eyes finally closed, and he fell into blackness.
  2. Astarum's eyes slowly opened, and his jaws spread apart in a tremendous yawn, forcing his eyes closed again for a moment until he was done. He glanced about him, and was content, for the place was familiar to him- indeed, it was where he slept every day. The only thing unusual was that there were many other furry forms in the enclosed rocky place, curled up on the ground, and sleeping peacefully. Astarum was almost always the last wolf to wake up at night and give his respects to Luna Lupus, and yet, here he was, the first one up! He quickly got to his paws, and a sharp pain struck his back paw, causing his leg to fold under him. Suddenly, it all came back to him. Everything that had happened yesternight. His limbs ached painfully as he recalled what the Star-Speaker had said...... The Black Wolf..... He was going to come soon.....
  3. His joint still hurting, Astarum rose gingerly to his paws once more, taking great care not to place any weight on his injured pad, and wincing anyway at the pain movement caused him. He stepped carefully over the bodies of his sleeping comrades, and limped through the narrow opening, and out into the cool night air. Except it wasn't cool. And it wasn't night. The little wolf nearly jumped backwards at the intensity of the light that was now flooding his senses, and blinding his eyes. He stumbled sideways, seeing only a white haze in his vision, while sweat broke out on his skin, the evil burning orb of fire scorching the pads of his paws, and the stone around him. Astarum scrambled for cover, and found minimal shelter in the shadow of a large stone. White swirled before him as his night-eyes tried to accustom themselves to the bright world. It was day! He must have slept all through the night, and woken up on the middle of the evil DAY! How would he ever get back to sleep now? He was just pondering the extreme heat when he heard a female voice call out his name. Uncertainly, he thought-
  4. A light grey wolf bounded up beside Astarum, and dipped her head in greeting. The dark little Star Wolf could not but wonder how she was managing the heat so well, and why in the world she was awake at this time of day, or awake in the day at all. "Astarum!" Light panted, out of breath from her run. A few seconds passed, and her gaze stayed on her furry paws. "Look...... About earlier..... I'm sorry about the way I reacted..... I'm sure you weren't doing anything wrong..... I guess I was just feeling a little bit...... You know......" Astarum gazed at her, slightly perplexed. What in the world did she mean by 'you know'? Seeing that she expected him to reply, he cleared his throat, and-
  5. Light took a small step back, looking a little sheepish, and said in a very small voice, "I guess we should..... Uh, go back to..... Sleep......." Astarum gave a slight nod, and followed behind the she-wolf, limping back to his original sleeping space, and acknowledging Light one more time as she disappeared into the group of sleeping Star Wolves before slumping down onto the ground, and trying to go back to sleep. As he drifted off, his last thoughts were-
  6. Astarum's eyes flickered open, and he was greeted by the darkness of the Sleeping Cavern, for that was the name of the rocky, enclosed space. All of the other wolves were still sleeping soundly, it seemed, which brought the dark little creature to believe that night had just broken, and the last rays of light just receding. Having slept all night long yesternight, he was now wide awake, and there was no possibility of sleeping any longer. So he got to his wobbly paws, and limped through the crowd of sleeping mammals, his back paw still bothering him. He stepped out into the fresh air, and was pleased that it now bore no resemblance to the day he had experienced, so hot and bright and horrible. The night was cool and sweet and watched over by The Lady, Luna Lupus. Well, that is, the moon had not risen YET, but she would, she would. Astarum was startled out of his thoughts by the sudden realization that he was not alone. Near the edge of a large rock, staring at the darkened sky, was a creamy-brown colored wolf, sitting up extremely straight, completely absorbed in whatever it was she was doing, for, it was indeed a female.
  7. Astarum took a couple hesitant steps toward the female, who seemed to have no idea that he was even there, so wrapped up in whatever she was doing, she was. Now quite curious as to what could possibly be so interesting as to muffle the approaching paw-steps of a stranger, the dark wolf crept a little closer, until he was nearly right by her side, though also a little behind her. Surprised that she could be so utterly consumed in her work to the point that she STILL didn't know he was there, he was now desperately curious as to what could be so enthralling. Wanting to break her chain of thought, to alert her that he was there, so as to ask her what was so interesting, he-
  8. The female wolf instinctively jerked a little to the side, then lowered her gaze from the heavens to look at you, seeming surprised to find you directly next to herself. "What?" She asked, not unkindly, but like someone who has just come out of a daze, awoken by one who has just asked a question. "What are you doing?" Astarum asked, seizing his chance. The lightly colored wolf blinked, and then answered in a quiet, perplexed voice, "Why, I'm watching the Stars, of course......" With a jolt, Astarum realized what this wolf must be. "Your a Star-Speaker, aren't you?" He asked, his eyes widening. "Well...... Yes......" She answered, one ear flattened against her head, and the other cocked to the side, giving her a slightly confused look.
  9. All of a sudden, Astarum was aware of a dark shadow looming up behind him, and fear struck at his heart, his tail instinctively lowering, and tucking itself between his legs, and his ears pinning themselves flat against his head. A low and commanding voice rumbled from the silhouette, and the little scared wolf turned slowly, recognizing the tone immediately. "What are you doing?", Trenare growled, the threat clear in his voice. The large wolf had his paws spread in a wide stance, and was glowering down at Astarum, while the female Star-speaker gazed mildly on.
  10. "Shouldn't you be getting back to sleep, kit?"(Star Wolf offspring are called 'kits', not pups) Trenare growled threateningly, while the female wolf watched without emotion. Astarum stood his ground for a few seconds, then thought better of it, slowly turning back towards the Cavern, and padding carefully forward, trying to give the impression that he had somehow won.
  11. Within the cave, Astarum padded cautiously back to his place, clearly in a bad mood. He sank down onto the rocky floor, now cold, as all of the previous heat he had generated before he had risen had now dispersed. As he repositioned himself on the hard ground, he accidentally woke Occuli, who, as it turned out, had been sleeping near him. As the reddish-black wolf's eyes sleepily opened, his hushed voice asked, "Astarum? What are you doing awake at this time?" His friend gazed tiredly at him for a few moments, then spoke again, "And why do you look so MAD?"
  12. "Mm hmm, mm hmm......." Occuli answered, clearly not listening, and already drifting back off into sleep. Astarum sighed, and wrapped his tail around himself again, slowly shutting his eyes, and dispersing all thoughts of the 'morrow. As the moon, Luna Lupus, slowly began to make her appearance, the darkly colored little wolf was asleep, and dreaming deeply of-
  13. Unknown to the young wolf at this point was what the future would bring, what surprises lay ahead of him, and what hardships he might face, and what dangers he might someday meet. That 'someday' was closer than he thought.
