  1. I woke up with Macey, Matt, Alex, Felex and my dad talking around the kitchen table while I lay on the couch. I sat up and the ice pack fell off my head. ‘What happened?’ I thought, than the memory of the shadow came rushing back to me. I looked over to Alex and saw that he was fine and didn’t have a single scratch. “I can’t believe I was so stupid.” Dad said as he buried his face into his hands. “It wasn’t your fault you didn’t know.” Macey said as she put her hand on his back. “She could have fooled anyone.” Matt looked at Macey and did a half smile. Felex got up and started to pace and put his hand to his mouth. I got up closer so I could hear well. “Are you sure it was her?” Dad asked concerned his voice was crackling. “I’m sure. She tried to stab me with a stake but Kim stopped her just in time.” Alex was in a very serious tone. “What I don’t understand is why she wants your daughter so badly. I mean she shows no signs of powers.” Flex added. “Her mom...” Dad said lost in thought I took a peek past the wall. Everyone was staring at dad waiting for his answer. “What about her mom?” Matt asked. They all watched my dad like the answer was going to explode out of him. “When Kim was little her mom would read her stories but I was never allowed to go in the same room as her stories. One time when Kim was eight I confronted her and told her Kim can read stories on her own. Her mom didn’t listen to me and kept going with the stories. I wanted her to let me decide on my daughter’s life too, so I walked in and I saw...” Dad paused trying to recall what he saw. “What!” screamed Macey waiting impatiently. “A light was coming out of her hand and she was about to touch Kim with it. When I tried to stop her she kept me at bay with her other hand. She said ‘It’s for her protection.’ I asked her why she needs protection. She just looked at me and I asked again with more anger. ‘From those who want to destroy her, she will grow with the same power I have and soon will be more powerful than anyone can imagine. I’m doing this to repress her power. If I don’t then she will become even more powerful then I.’ with that I saw a bright flash and woke up with her at my bed side. When I tried to ask her about it she just kept telling me it was a dream.” Dad finished with that. I was wondering if she was repressing my power how long would it be until it comes back. I didn’t pay attention to how much I stuck out and realized they stopped talking when I looked at them they were staring at me. “Sorry...” I said stepping out. Dad stood up and kissed my forehead. “No you should hear this too.” He took me in the kitchen and sat me down.
  2. “Tami! She couldn’t be!” I screamed. I was out of my seat now, and I know I hate Tami but there was no way that she could be Lileth in disguise. “Well we don’t know because we didn’t see her attack Alex and you, but she disappeared right after Alex fought back and the attacker left. Did Jack say anything to you?” Dad asked as Alex and Felex looked at me. “Jack was here?” Felex asked worried. I nodded “But he wasn’t here long. He just wanted to apologize from the date.” “Did he say anything?” Matt repeated. “He didn’t see Tami but when she asked who I was talking to she saw Jack and ran upstairs. He kept asking who she was and why she sounded familiar.” They all looked at me like I solved a murder case. “What?” I asked confused. Macey got up from her chair and grabbed my shoulders. “You just said what we need to find out!” “What did I say?” “You said Jack recognized the voice of Tami. He would also know the voice of Lileth, which means...” I thought about it and in my head I slapped my face knowing I was stupid for not figuring it out earlier. “Tami is Lileth for sure.” All this time the one person everyone has been telling me to avoid was living in the same house hold as my dad and I. They have been married for 3 years now and she just threw it away. “I’m sorry dad.” I went to my dad and put my hand on his back. I would be devastated if I was in his shoes too. “It’s fine at least you’re safe.” I knew he was glad about my safety but I also knew he wasn’t ok. “What are we going to do?” Felex asked concerned. Alex perked his head up. “I know what we could do...” We all waited for Alex to elaborate. “What!” Felex screamed. “We can take her somewhere that will keep her safe from Lileth, her minions, but it’s also supposed to keep out hunters.” Alex said while looking at Felex. “Really? You’re worried that I’m going to kill everyone there? I’m more worried about Kim’s safety them all of you hiding out in one spot. That spot will be kept a secret and I promise not to hunt there.” Felex said irritated, and using a lot of arm movement. “This place is called the Barrier.” Macey said knowing what Alex was talking about.
  3. Hours and hours of endless road stretched in front of us. Dad had to watch me leave, and he had no idea of where were going. He started to tear up and Buckington had a platter full of beers behind him waiting for him to grieve. I waved bye from the from the passenger seat. Felex was driving the car; Alex was in the back driver’s side with Matt in the middle and Macey to his right. The car was packed and Felex didn’t know where the Barrier is except that it’s in Las Vegas, Nevada. Alex was going to take over once we got to Nevada. The car was quite, and full of tenseness. We were almost out of Utah and Alex was ready to take over. I was tired but after tonight I won’t be able to sleep for weeks. I found out my dad’s second wife is after me for some reason, I almost got a concussion, and on top of that I don’t know when my possible powers are going to appear. Everyone was ready to get out and just walk around but Felex had a full tank before we left and has no plans on stopping soon. “You’re on E” I said for the past 20 miles but he still didn’t listen. After the millionth time of telling me Alex grabbed his shoulder and shouted in his ear, “You’re on E! You trying to get us stranded.” Felex just shrugged him off. “The next gas station is 5 miles up.” “By then we’ll be walking to Las Vegas!” Alex said loud enough that the gamblers would stop their games to listen to Alex. “We’ll make it!” Flex said through gritted teeth. I was horrified by how much Alex and Felex couldn’t stand each other, yet here they are trying to protect me together. 4 miles of frustration before we even saw the gas station. Felex exited and drove into one of the pumps. “You guys can get out and walk around if you want.” Felex said as he turned off the car and began to hop out. Everyone almost flew out of the car when he said that. “Anyone hungry?” Matt asked friendly like and showed of a few bucks.
  4. We walked into the gas station/restaurant and went to the restaurant side. We all sat down while Felex was outside filling the tank. A girl with her hair in a bun came over smacking her gum. Her eyes showed some lack of sleep from the late shifts. “Welcome, here are you’re menus can I start you off with a drink?” Everyone ordered they’re drinks and we all squirmed from the lack of conversation. Then two guys laughing and tripping everywhere they walk walked in. They both wore a blue shirt but the blonde wore dark wash jeans and the brunette wore light jeans. Felex was right behind them annoyed. When they walked past our table Alex looked at him as if they were cops and he was on the lamb. I looked back at the very amused guys and when I looked back Matt, Macey, and Felex were looking at them just as Alex had been. “Guys they’re just drunk.” I whispered. Alex looked at me and shook his head. “I can smell they’re blood, they don’t have a drop of alcohol in their system.” Alex went back to staring at them. “Doesn’t mean you have to creep on them maybe they are having a good time. They all seemed to look pissed off and looking right above me. I turned around to see them hovering over me. “Got a problem?” The brunette asked as he glared down at me. I turned half way around so I was more comfortable talking to them. “No, I was just saying that you guys are either drunk or having a great time.” “Or looking for you...” smiled the blonde. “Or what?” I asked concerned. I heard growls and hisses coming from behind me. The brunette looked at the others and laughed. I backed into the table trying to get away from them. “Can’t run Kimmy dear.” Said the blonde again smiling. “You won’t touch her.” stated Felex with a violent tone. “You work for Tami?” I asked calmly. They both lost their smiles and looked confused. “Who is Tami?” asked the brunette. I rolled my eyes. “Oh come on! Tami is way more powerful than Lileth.” Then they looked pissed at every word that came out of my mouth. “No, Lileth is the strongest witch of them all!” They both said and I saw sparks coming from their hands. “Nope, lies are all she told you. She tells you she’s the strongest so you obey her, she’s really weak.” “No she will always rule over them all!” blonde said about to burst. “Tami isn’t even close to the all-powerful Lileth!” said the brunette equally furious. I stood up got in their faces and smirked. “I’m even stronger than Lileth.” That was too far. They screamed and lightning went everywhere.
  5. I was crouched down on the ground trying not to get hit by the lightning. The minions were screaming and unleashing all they got. Someone grabbed my shoulder and I knew it was one of my friends so I followed them with my eyes closed and they lead me with their hand on my shoulder. We got outside and I finally opened my eyes to see Jack leading me out. My friends were still inside the restaurant. “Let go!” I screamed at Jack. He dropped his hand to his side. He looked at me with worry. “Are you the back-up in case they failed to catch me?” Jack just stared at me. “Or are you going to sweet talk me and Tami will take me away.” Jack just stared on. “Answer me when I’m asking you a question!” I screamed starting to cringe up. Jack flinched and sighed. “I knew Lileth’s plan and wanted to make sure you were ok. When I saw them explode like that I ran in to get you out.” “So you are acting on free will?” He nodded. “He doesn’t have enough to avoid me.” Tami in a purple floor length dress with black lace on her curves came out of the shadows. I turned to her and I saw a bruise where Alex must have hit her. She saw what I was looking at. “Alex packs quite a punch doesn’t he? Don’t fret I knew you’d outsmart them, this was just a test.” Jack looked at her confused. She looked at him with a sinister smile. “I also knew you’d make sure she was safe. Amazing how I can predict everything ahead of time isn’t it?” “What’s this test for Tami? In the end you won’t get me and I’ll get powerful enough to kill you!” She laughed a scary laugh you’d expect a witch to have. “I am testing how smart you are and how soon power will come to you. I’m just making sure you don’t get to that powerful point you speak of.” “What if I have powers and I’m saving them?” She smiled again. “Then you’re friends wouldn’t still be in there. I’m sorry I have to cut this short we must go. Jack you’re coming too. See you soon Kim.” She winked and with that they disappeared. I looked behind me to see a perfectly fine restaurant and four frighten friends. They saw m and started running outside to me. “Kim! You’re ok!” Macey screamed. They all hugged me and I explained what happened.
  6. They all felt better to know I was ok from the beginning but worse that, that wasn’t the last of Tami as Lileth. Alex took over the driving as we passed a sign that said ‘Welcome to Nevada’. We drove for a while then finally made it to Las Vegas. The lights were blinding as we drove through going to the Barrier. We stopped in front of a hotel casino. “Why are we here?” I asked confused. This didn’t look like a magical Barrier to protect us from Tami. “Don’t eat the chocolate, they don’t affect people with powers but they will affect you and Felex.” “What does it do?” “It makes you act weird and it’s so we can point out who is one of us and isn’t.” Macey answered for Alex. “Has anyone come in without eating the chocolate?” “People don’t say no to free chocolate, and if they do we can still tell them apart.” Matt said helping out. “How are Kim and I supposed to get in?” Felex asked obviously confused. “We can talk to the owner.” Alex answered starting to sound annoyed. We all got out and walked in. The first thing to approach us was a girl offering chocolate. Alex looked at her flashed some fangs and said no. She back up knowing he wasn’t going to change his mind. We walked passed a few girls who kept offering chocolate but Alex just kept showing off his fangs. Once we got to a door he knocked and it opened a crack. “Come on.” He said calmly. Inside sat a man witch gray hair and wrinkles every inch of his face. He sat there with his hands clasped on his desk and in a very new and nice suit. “Alex, welcome along with Macey, Matt, and your new friends.” “Hey dad, are you doing ok?” Alex said. My eyes felt as if they were going to pop out of my head.
  7. This old man is Alex’s old man? “Watch your mind young lady, I may be old but I can easily pin you down.” I was speechless, I didn’t know whether to defend myself or apologize. “We vampires can age to how old we want.” Alex whispered in my ear. Right as he said that his father went from an old guy who looked dead to a guy who looked like he was in his late 40’s. “I bet you’re wondering how old Alex is here? He’s young but older then you’d think.” I looked at Alex and really did wonder how old he is. Alex just smiled at me and looked back at his dad. “We need wrist bands for them. This is Kim; her mom repressed her power since she was born. Her mother is dead and her power could come back any day now, and Lileth wants her.” His dad nodded toward Felex. “He is... A hunter... But all he wants to do is protect Kim, and swears it will remain a secret and he won’t destroy this place.” “I trust you with the secret of this place but just to be safe...” He clicked a button and whispered something. I squirmed as we waited for a witch doctor to come. “Meet Ms. Zenderoni, she will make sure Felex will keep his promise of our secret and out safety.” She smiled. “Don’t worry dear, witch doctor is in my blood.” She had a very heavy Jamaican accent. With a prick of his finger to paper some accent tongue and drinking of a liquid Felex has sworn to his secret. “If you try to tell someone you will become speechless, if you try to destroy this place you will destroy yourself.” Felex nodded. She left and we all looked at Alex’s father. “Enjoy your stay.” He said in a perky voice as Felex and I got wrist bands.
  8. Everyone split off to have fun, playing videogames, going to the pool, or enjoying the food. Matt and Macey went to see their fortunes, while Alex went to get some blood in his system, and Felex just looked around nervously. I felt just like Felex, lost and surrounded by people who don’t want me here. I may be able to belong when I get my powers but I don’t know when that will be. Until then I was as much of an outsider as Felex was. I wondered around rubbing my arm to comfort myself. I spun around trying to find something to do, when I ran into Matt. “Oops sorry.” I said smiling trying to sound sincere. “You’re fine, have you seen Macey? I went to get us some chocolate, but she was gone when I came back.” “No I haven’t seen her since we separated.” “Oh.” He looked crestfallen. “But I can help you find her.” He smiled and nodded at my offer. Macey shouldn’t be that hard to find, she’s one of the few faces I’ll recognize. We walked around and then this peppy server came over. “You guys are so cute! How long have you been together?” Matt looked at me and blushed. “We aren’t dating, but we are looking for his girlfriend.” She laughed and grabbed us both by the shoulder. “Quit joking! I’ll get you guys some privacy.” She pushed us into a room with no one else. “Have fun!” She winked at us and I opened my mouth to argue but she already closed the door. I looked at Matt who looked down at me still red cheeked. “Welcome to 7 Minutes in Heaven. You may do what you like, but to leave you must do something other than talk.” A computerized voice said in a monotone. “How will you know if we don’t do anything?” “We scan your memories.” That’s great. I looked up at Matt and he couldn’t look at me at all. “Matt?” “I’m with Macey I can’t.” “Matt you don’t have to they have to let us out eventually.” He looked at me. “Well let’s enjoy this while we can.” We sat down and talked everyday conversations. “5 minutes left.” Matt sat there awkwardly. He was so cute and I do wonder what it would be like to be with him, but Macey is my friend. “She won’t know...” Matt said seriously looking at me curiously. “What do you mean?” “I mean she wouldn’t know, I wonder what it’s like to be with you too.” I blushed and didn’t know what to say. “What about Macey?” I asked concerned. She may never know but I’d feel guilty doing that to her. “Yeah you’re right.” I walked over to him and sat by him. He looked at me and I bit my lip. Not meaning to show the kiss me signal but I did. He leaned over and grabbed my head. He pulled me in and pressed his lips on mine. It was soft and tender. He pulled away and looked at me and I longed for more. It wasn’t passionate like Alex’s or a firework like Felex’s, but it was simple and enticing. He kept kissing me and kissing me, each one longer then the last. The 7 minutes were up and the door opened. I jumped back until I felt it didn’t look like we did anything. No one was at the door so we walked out, keeping our distance. We walked out of the couples section and Macey waved at us. Matt and I looked at each other nervously but she didn’t notice anything weird. “Hey there you are! Let’s go we have dinner to attend.” She grabbed on Matt arm and started to drag him away. I waved bye and already missed the 7 minutes.
  9. I couldn’t sleep knowing what I did behind Macey’s back would kill her. Never again would I look at Matt the same and never again would I be Macey’s friend. I sat staring at the darkness, and I felt a presence. “Hello?” I whispered hoping my feeling was wrong. “Sorry, just wanted to make sure you’re ok.” Alex said somewhere in the shadows. “I’m not in the mood tonight.” I turned over and covered what I could without taking off the blanket. I felt a dent form at my feet. “Alex, please leave me alone.” “I can’t help myself. You’re just so perfect.” “Don’t say that!” “You are though!” I sat up and looked at the direction of his outline. “I’m not perfect now leave me alone!” I felt him move closer, the beds here are much bigger then my twin at home. “Kim... Is something wrong?” I looked away not wanting to tell him. “Kim, you’re perfect to me and that’s the real reason I want you safe. Don’t give me the silent treatment.” “I looked at his outline again and move my hand to get an idea of distance. He grabbed my hand and I could feel his soft lips touching my hand. “I’m sorry. And nothing is wrong I’m just tired and scared.” He put my hand on his chest and moved closer to where I could feel his breathe on my lips. “I know you’re scared but we’ll get through this, trust me.” I smiled knowing he can see it. He leaned over and kissed me passionately. His lips felt like velvet and they tasted like honey. My hand was on his chest as he tried to pull me closer. I moved it and let him pull me in. We kissed until we couldn’t breathe and then we lay on my bed as he comforted me and I finally got some sleep.
  10. I woke up red lights flooded the room. “Red alert, red alert...” The sirens screamed. I covered my ears and looked left and right for Alex. He was nowhere to be seen. I got out of bed and ran out of the room my hands still on my ears. Using memory from yesterday, I ran down stairs and down hallways until the entrance was in sight. I took my hands off my ears and bolted for the door, but I was tripped short. I fell to the ground and couldn’t breathe. When I turned over a shadow was above me but I knew it wasn’t Tami. The shadow started to grab at my legs as I kicked. “Let me go! Leave me alone!” I was being pulled away from the door.
  11. I helplessly kicked air and clawed at the ground. “I.... TOLD.... YOU.... TO.... STOP!” I flung my hand toward him and he flew back and into a wall. I froze staring at the dent in the wall. When I looked at my hand a glow came from it. More people surrounded me as I lay on the floor. I stood up as fast as I could without falling or getting dizzy. “Get away!” I screamed and screamed. Finally I let out a blood curdling scream that made a light surround me and grow more intense as I screamed. I let out a final scream that hurt all my muscles in me and the light flew out to the shadows and they all dissolved in front of my very own eyes. “Kim!” Felex an Alex screamed from the side. “Save me!” I screamed scared. “You’re too strong. You must die Kimmy dear.” I heard Tami’s voice. A dark malevolent light filled the room and made me sick. “I don’t want to die!” “To bad!” I screamed and I went out cold.
