As to your first question: The mere explanation is that GTQ Guy was probably limitted to the number of forums he could make. The different sections are very broad, therefore I'm sure you'll find that alchemy could fit somewhere in one, maybe religion, seeing as it is a sort of ritual practice.
As for your second question: That's for you to decide. I've had my share of being ignored as well. As people get to know you, they'll start acknowledging you more. That's the trend I've been seeing. Hope this helps. -
