I don't really see any guys outside of school besides family. And even then it's pretty akward.
Soon the resturaunt began to clear, and Alicia smiled. "Finish cleaning up the tables and your done for today." Mr. Stefansson said, "We'll be closing early today." She nodded, and went aound picking up the payment and tips. When she reached the table the stranger had been sitting had, she took a god five minutes just to make sure she wasn't hallucinating. -
My extended family (with both sides combined) has only three girls (besides older ones like aunts, etc.) in it. I'm used to being around guys I know. Put me in school and I'm so shy and meek.
After exiting the shop, Hale stood in the middle of the sidewalk for a moment, getting his bearings. It was dizzying, trying to find his way through the crowd. After a few moments he decided to wait for a while until it thinned. He walked over to a bench and sat down. He was still visible from the restaurant windows. -
She picked up one of the coins, looking closely at the marking on them. Some sort of foreign language she hadn't seen before covered the egdes, and the picture of a city in the middle. She lookedhe window, seeing the stranger on a bench, and quickly finished cleaning. She hung her apron back on its hook, and dashed out to see him. To ask him about the coins.
-
Hale held his last gold coin in his hand, running his thumb lightly over the etched in designs. It was his only reminder of home. He closed his fist around it and closed his eyes before putting it back into his pocket. He turned slightly, hearing footsteps behind him. It was the girl from the restaurant.
-
"Hey, where did you get these?" she asked, indicating the coins. They almost seemed to sparkle, even though the sun and most of it's rays were hidden by thick gray clouds.
-
"Home," Hale replied. "Is there a problem with them?" He looked up at the girl. She was pretty... But then again, who was he to know? He wasn't native to this planet. But, if she lived on his home planet, boys would be fighting over her.
-
"N-no, I was just.....curious." She looked at the odd lettering again, asking "What language is this? I've never seen it before."
-
"We never had a name for it," he replied, his voice taking on that spacey quality once more.
-
Alicia was silent for a moment, chewing on her tongue as she often did when thinking. "right, well my offer still stands. Here's my address if you don't find someplac ese." she said, handing him a small bit of paper.
-
Hale reached out and took the paper into his hand, his fingertips lightly brushing hers as he did so. "Thank you."
-
"You're welcome." she replied, cheeks turning a light pink. She turned and started down the sidewalk, biting her lower lip.
-
He stood up, looking after her. "Wait. What is your name?" he called out quietly.
-
"It's Alicia. Alicia Varnns." she said, turning her head slightly so he'd be able to hear.
