"Thank you," he said quietly, offering her a slight smile. He picked up a piece and bit into it, the taste of something familiar sending memories flooding back to him. -
Alicia spread a thin layer of butter on one pice, savouring the flavor. Something about eating with company made even the plainest of foods taste amazing.

"This reminds me of home. It is nice..." Hale glanced up at Alicia, this time offering a real smile instead of his usual faint ones. His bright green eyes sparkled in the artificial light. -

"I-I'm glad." she said, smiling back. All the worries of that day seemed to melt away with his smile. Oh really now, Alicia. You mean to tell me you're falling for an alien? the little voice in the back of her mind taunted.
