Beautiful Endings Part 20

Announcements: So I'm pretty much done with this trilogy. Pre-writing it, anyways. I'm still deciding for Beautiful Beginnings, but don't worry, I'll keep you guys posted!

Question of the Day is in the results as usual, and I would really love if before the series ends we make it to the front page? I don't know, just a suggestion. (:

  1. The battle was thinning out. There were many killed and many hurt on both sides, and yet they were still fighting strong. It was maybe more than five hours since it started. And yet it was still intense. Ash was going at it, but he felt tired, as did the others. He wished he could just call for a break like this was all just imaginary playtime, but it wasn't. He plunged his sword into a satyr and whipped around for another kill. "INFERNOS!" Everyone stopped and turned their heads towards the loud voice. Ash saw a man with a hat by a pillar, a megaphone in his hand. "WE'RE RELEASING CODE 13EF5. I REPEAT, WE'RE RELEASING CODE 13EF5. PLEASE REPORT TO THE BARRACKS. AGAIN, WE ARE RELEASING CODE 13EF5"
  2. Suddenly all of Oath's army started scrambling about as if an apocalypse was about to take place. Ash and the others could only stand there frozen, not knowing what to do. The enemy ran towards a door and sooner or later all that was left were the good guys. The crowd wavered, looking around for anything unusual when Ash saw the body. He was on the ground in a pool of his own blood. Ash cursed under his breath and ran towards it. He kneeled down onto the ground and touched the dog's fur, which was nappy and wet. His eyes were still open, yet blank. Ash put his hands over the body, light shining out. He did this for a minute or so, but the body still showed no sign of life. Ash had noticed too late. Gumbo was dead.
  3. Sadie was fighting. Okay, trying not to get hurt while Chant was fighting for her. Mrs. Roberts didn't want to go since Faeries weren't allowed anyways. Chant wasn't approved by The Council, so he was an exception. She was standing there, confused and puzzled as much as everybody else was about the whole disruption of the battle. Then the ground started trembling. The ground started trembling, she was getting off balanced, and big thuds were being heard after every shake. It was like being in a bouncy house. Then there were screams. She and Chant were in the back, so she couldn't tell what was happening. It turns out she hadn't noticed the Hellhounds that were running freely amongst everybody.
  4. There were two. One was brown, another black, but both big. Huge Way bigger than any other Hellhound she's ever seen before. It was as if they were a whole other species. The black one pounced on a poor crowd of people, baring its teeth, blood splashing around like a water hose as the creature sunk its teeth into human flesh, gnawing on the meat and chewing on the bone. Chant grabbed her elbow. "Go!" Sadie was so mesmerized by the whole scene she hadn't noticed everybody retreating back. Some stayed put and shot at the animals, but they simply bounced off their fur like it was made of iron. The Hellhounds ravaged on, consuming everything in their paths. There were shouts and screams, and crooks of color as people started running like ants. There was only one thing that was on Sadie's mind. One simple sentence: We're all screwed.
  5. Alex got up with a groan, clutching his arm as he was thrown back into a bookcase. Oath took a sip of wine. "Come on, Alexander. Did all those hours of practicing not do anything?" Alex wiped his forehead and then wished the glass of wine out of his hand. The glass shattered into the tea table with a loud clatter. "I have more," Oath said, grabbing a bottle from a cabinet by the fireplace. He took a long sip, waving his arm back, which sent Alex spiraling backwards once more. Oath pointed his finger at him. Alex felt a small tingle inside him—a burning sort of feeling. But for some reason, it didn't hurt. He got up again, a gash on his forehead. He tried reading Oath's mind, but nothing came up. "I'm not a bad father," Oath started. "I would tell my adventures in the Core when you were a boy and you couldn't go to sleep. I would go to every single one of your football games. Hell, I even taught you how to ride a skateboard. Don't say I wasn't a good father to you. You were just not a good son."
  6. Alex felt the tingly feeling in his fingers. It was if the thing Oath did powered him up or activated something in some way. He remembered when ______ told him about Oath electrifying her. Then it hit him. He smiled and pointed a finger at Oath, focusing all his energy into that one moment. Then, a bolt of lightning shot out and hit the wine bottle, causing it to burst open, the wine exploding and cascading into the fire, making it shoot out flames. Oath looks surprised. "How did you do that?" Alex grinned. "You seemed to have forgotten that you're my dad. I'm half nephilim." Oath smiled slyly. "Interesting." Then with a wave of his hand, thousands of voltages of light shined from it. Luckily, Alex did the same thing at the same time. Their powers collided into one bright light, like the sun colliding with the stars. But Alex only discovered this now. Oath has been doing this his entire life. How could he possibly win? He heard Oath laughing on the other side. This is it, Alex thought. My own father is going to kill me.
  7. I ran as hard as I could. That is, until we saw the Hellhounds. They were stampeding everywhere, trampling people on the ground as easily as an ant. I saw Ash, but he wasn't doing anything other than kneeling onto the ground like he was in church asking God to forgive him for his sins. "We have to help him!" I called. Misty looked at me and then nodded. She sprinted towards the first Hellhound, fiercely and stealthily. She fumbled around with something in her pocket, and I saw it was a shot. She stabbed it into the fur of the Hound, and started making her way to the other one while it whimpered and started shrieking. She ran back and motioned us with a quick hand to keep going. "What was that?" Christofer asked, running alongside her. "Antidote for the serum," she said. "Sample only, though." We turned a corner and faced the big brown doors once again. "Ready?" Christofer asked, giving my arm a small squeeze of reassurance. I nodded. "Ready." With that, James and Misty pushed the doors open, and we made our way in.
  8. Alex was losing. He was losing and he could feel it. "Alex!" He snapped his head to the doors where _____ and Misty said his name at the same time. Oath stopped with his electricity and whipped around, staying composed. "Welcome to the party!" he said with a hand clap. The doors shut with a loud bang. "James and Misty," he continued on with a head shake. "I should have known. I guess you'll die as well, then." Suddenly the two were in flames. They were flailing their arms and screaming, rolling on the ground, their skin getting a shade darker and darker as time passed, bones peeking out of their red marked flesh. Misty. "No!" He didn't know who said that, but it was his exact same thoughts spot on. _____ cane surging through, past Oath to his side, Christofer well on her trail. "Are you two going to share her?" Robert asked with a hearty laugh, kicking away at the ashes of the two he just killed. "Zathara will make due with her. If she kills me, anyways. I guess it's a win-win scenario for me." Christofer wrinkled his eyebrows. "What do you mean?" Oath laughed again. "I used to be Zathara's Resolute. When that blasted girl cut my hand off, she transferred to her thinking she was more powerful. All she has to do it prove it. To allow a full connection you must kill the person she transferred from. So if she kills me, Zathara takes her over. If she doesn't, I kill you all. Time is just ticking away. Make your decision."
  9. I was paralyzed. This must have been what Christofer was trying to tell me. "What if she doesn't kill you?" he asked. "What if Alex or I do?" Oath took a swig out of his wine bottle. "Doesn't matter. I'll kill her anyways. Not like you two could kill me. Ha!" I sighed and released myself from their hold. I was done with his games. "I guess we'll just make do." I slashed my arm to the side and Oath was flung backward, his wine bottle shattering as it hit the ground. It was simple this time. But of course, Zathara wanted me to do it. Oath got up, a bruise on his forehead. I didn't care anymore. Honestly, I really didn't. Why? Because I had this crazy, risky, psychotic plan. Zathara wants a new body? Alright. Let's kill Oath first, then. I heard shouts from behind me, and suddenly a gigantic Berd swooped in, tearing the ceiling apart, making dirt give way. "I'll take care of Oath!" I yelled. "Get the Berd!" Alex and Christofer shared a glance with each other and then with me. I could tell what they were thinking. "I got this," I reassured. "I promise." With a flicker of hesitation, they nodded and then turned their attention to the Berd. Then I felt a roaring pain on my arm. I lifted it up to my eyes and saw a deep red gash on it, blood pouring out. Oath was standing there, smiling and drinking out of another wine bottle like a mad man. I waved my hand again, but this time he put his hand up and blocked whatever I was going to do to him. I took cover behind a char and closed my eyes, channeling the demon inside me. You want a new body? I asked in my head. You can have it. Just help me. I heard a cackle, which I assumed was a laugh and an agreement as I felt a whole new surge of energy power through me like I was an old battery getting recharged for the first time in forever. I looked to my left and could see my reflection on the golden lining of the fireplace. James was right. My eyes were all black.
  10. Then out of nowhere I felt myself go light headed. Everything got blurry like I was experiencing getting high or something, and then I felt myself being transported in air. I swiveled around, trying to hold onto something, but all I could feel was nothing. The color returned to my vision, and I could see perfectly again as I landed roughly on the ground. Fog swallowed up my ankles and a bland sky allowed no sunlight to knit through. The clouds were balls of wispy cotton, spread about in the sky like scattered papers on an office desk. I was barefoot, and there was dirt in between my toes along with some dewy grass. Moss covered walls surrounded me, and I could hear Oath's laugh echoing throughout the area. Where was I? I went straight, turned left, right, and made all of these twists, which all unfortunately led to a dead end. I looked down and saw some writing scrawled into the dirt. It looked fresh. I didn't have to read it, however, because somebody already for me. Somebody that I hoped wasn't there. Somebody with such a poised persona you would think it was just an act. Wine still in hand, Oath took a drink with an amusing grin spread wide across his face.
  11. "Welcome to my mind."
