  1. Kaylee: I sat on the middle of my floor. Candles were the only things lighting up my room at the house. My eyes were closed as I concentrated on sending myself into the spirit world. I crossed the veil and saw some spirits chatting with each other, while the younger ones played in a nearby park. "She's not here." Brendan-the boy from the Shades' castle-informed me. "Where is she then?" I asked and he shrugged. "Some are saying that she's stuck in the afterlife, while others are saying that she got out, and a few are saying that she was reincarnated. Either way, she's not here." He said. "I wish Kelly would just show herself." I said. "Maybe she doesn't want to be found." He said and then I opened my eyes.
  2. I saw that my eyes were still glowing white thanks to the mirror across the room. They would do this for about an hour if something jerked me out of the trance. "Kaylee!" I heard Jason yell, pounding on the door. I got up and walked over to my door. "What?" I said while opening the door. "Uh, sorry," he pointed to my eyes, "but we have to go get someone like right now. The Shades are advancing towards them." "Start the car." I said, and he ran off while I blew out all the candles, and pulled on my black boots. I ran down the hallway and out the doors to where the cars were. I hopped in the car, and he drove off. After ten minutes, we pulled into a park where no one was. "This is where it says she goes every day after school." Jason told me and then parked the car. "What's her name?" I asked. "Danica. She's twelve, and we don't know what she can do." He answered. Just then, a girl with long red hair came into view. She sat on a swing, and that's when four Shades came out of the trees. "Go!" Jason yelled and we both hurried out of the car, rushing towards her.
  3. "Hey!" I yelled when one of the Shades pulled out a gun and pointed it at Danica. He stopped and turned towards me. Shadows came out from around me and entered his body. He dropped to the ground, dead. Danica screamed. "Good job making her scared." Jason sarcastically told me, and then we stopped because the Shades were blocking us. "Well, what was I suppose to do? Let him shoot her?" I retorted. "What's wrong with your eyes?" A Shade asked me, and I recognized her as Savannah, but I ignored her. "Get Danica." Jason whispered in my ear, and I began to make the shadows swirl at my feet. I fell into the ground and appeared behind Danica. I touched her shoulder and she jumped. "Sh. I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm here to help." I told her and then made the shadows come and we both fell into the ground, appearing by the car. "What's wrong with your eyes? Why are they white?" Danica asked me. "Don't worry about my eyes. They'll be back to normal in about forty five minutes." I told her. "Kaylee." A voice whispered and I snapped my head up, seeing a spirit standing there. "What?" I asked it. "Jason." It whispered and I looked at where Jason was. A Controller was on him. "You're freaking me out." Danica said.
  4. "Get in the car, and stay there." I demanded and opened the door. She thankfully obeyed. "Go help him out." I told the spirit and it nodded its head and disappeared. I closed the car door and went to help him, but I heard screeching tires behind me. I whipped around and saw another Shade car there. Six of them came out and I made shadows swirl around my feet. "Give us the girl!" One commanded and pointed his gun at me. "Sorry, but what are you talking about?" I asked innocently and put my hand on the car, making the shadows swirl around it. "She's in the car. Now give her to us!" He yelled again and I thought about the house, and made the car fall through the ground, and hoped that it reached the house. "Whoops." I smiled and twirled my hair, giving him the dumb blonde look. "Get her." The Shade demanded and they all rushed towards me. I held up my hands and the shadows under my feet came forward, and made a black wall between us. They ran into it and disappeared.
  5. I turned around and saw Jason and the spirit knock out Savannah. "Let's go!" I yelled at him and he ran towards me. "Where's the car?" He asked when he came into the parking lot. "The house... I think." I said. "You think?" He asked. "Yes." I said and took his hand, making shadows appear beneath our feet. I focused on the house, and we landed in front of it, making Jason fall. "Someone forgot to bend their knees." I said as I helped him up. I looked around and saw that Danica was inside the car, and Trevor (who is now the person in charge ever since Skye changed) was trying to get her out of it, but she wasn't listening. Jason and I jogged over there.
  6. "Come on. It's alright." Trevor assured her. "Just unlock the doors." "No! I don't know you!" Danica said back. "Danica, it's alright. You can come out now." I told her. "But you told me to stay here." She said. "And now I'm saying that you can come out. It's safe here." I told her and then she came out of the car. "I want to go home." She said, holding her bookbag. "Go with Trevor. He'll explain everything to you, and you can call home." I told her and she nodded her head. "Oh, and Kaylee," Trevor turned his head towards me, "fix your eyes. You're freaking out the kids again." I saw about six kids staring at me, eyes wide. "That's not my fault. It's his." I pointed at Jason. "Did you find her?" Trevor asked. "No. Some think she's stuck in the Afterlife, and others think that she's out." I replied and he nodded in response.
  7. Trevor and Danica walked up to the house, and I heard him explaining why she was here. That was the last thing that I saw before I fell to the ground. I opened my eyes and saw myself surrounded in fire. I tried to call out for help, but the roaring flames covered my voice. Panic rose inside of me as the flames started making their way towards me. Something flashed across my vision and I saw a girl with short blonde hair racing towards a closed door. She opened it, and I saw Rose standing there looking terrified, but then she hugged the girl who opened the door. I couldn't see anything else though because the flames in front of me were too high and too close. They started to make their way up my legs, and I cried out in pain as I felt my skin burning, which quickly woke me up.
