Communism isn't necessarily the USSR's system. The USSR was socialist and only one form of it as there are a variety of forms and styles and ways of executing and achieving such. There were many socialist nations and models, take Yugoslavia, Vietnam, Burkina Faso(mostly under Sankara), Chile under Allende, etc. Also, in these countries, people weren't paid equally, people were paid different based on the labour they put in and their jobs, Cuba's way of doing this is a common product of jokes. You can see the averages of various professions within such nations. Communism is stateless and wholly without oppression of any form and is the goal of these nations.
