"That part also gets a bit.....confusing." Damien leaned back into the chair, fiddling with the ring on his finger. "I should start at the beginning." He looked around the cabin that he had brought Tristan to. "So, a long time ago I had a dream. I wanted to be an artist. I didn't care what kind, I just wanted the fame. Wanted people to know my name." Damien took a deep breath. "So, one day; much like yourself I met a fortune teller. This one just happened to be at a local circus. Me and my friends thought it was a joke, because we had heard that if you really wanted something this fortune teller would do the trick. He could make anything happen. Even things beyond your wildest dreams." Damien shifted in the chair for a moment, his eyes glazing over slightly as he recounted this story.
"I went inside the tent where the fortune teller was, and things went about as normal as a reading would go. At the end, this man looked at me. Said he saw something important in me, and that if I truly wanted to change my life, all I had to do was say so." Damien continued to fiddle with the ring on his finger. "Of course I said yes, and jumped on the opportunity to do so. Big mistake. That's when Lila showed up, in her human form of course. She brought out a paper contract, I signed it, and thought that was the end. Everything went fine for the first couple of months. I played in bars, and started to gain fame. That's when everyone, and everything showed their true colors. When I truly realized the mistake I had made." -
imsoclueless SeniorTristan thought for a moment, words jumbled in their brain. They honestly still couldn't understand much of what he was saying, whether it was their dyslexia or their stupidity, but it just- didn't sound real. "How do I know this is real and not just some made up scam? Or- Or how do I know you're not just gonna, trick me into signing whatever the hell it was you signed??" Tristan asked, glaring at Damien.
-
"I can understand how this all sounds to you. If it makes it any easier, I am sill just a mortal. No magic, or tricks up my sleeves. Without this ring, I am just under a contract. One I want to get out of. I'm not sure what will happen once the contract breaks, but it will be better than dealing with what I have dealt with this whole time." Damien stood up, and walked to the other side of the room, his dog following behind. "If you don't want to help, I understand. I wouldn't exactly trust anyone I just met either."
-
imsoclueless Senior"I mean- Of course I don't trust you," Tristan said, beginning to pace back and forth. "We did just meet. Plus, I literally thought magic was like, either not real or just extinct from the world forever." They paused and turned towards Damien, watching him for a moment. "Wait, you're- You're like, trapped in this contract? With literally no way out of it, unless you get someone else to help you??"
-
"This is where I think you're definitely not going to believe me." Damien took a deep breath, then exhaled. "So, I can't just get anyone to help me. It has to be someone with a strong angelic connection. So, whether you realize or not, you either have a really important guardian angel, or you have had some close calls with death." Damien looked at Tristan, unsure of how they would take that information. There was so much more to it than that, but he could tell Tristan was getting overwhelmed by the information they were given.
-
imsoclueless SeniorTristan looked down at themselves, then back at Damien. "So, you're saying I'm like, an angel or something?"
-
"Not exactly. You may contain an angelic power, but you yourself are a mortal like me." Damien looked at them, unsure of how they were taking this.b"What we need to do, is get in contact with your angel. The one that is specifically tied to you; and see what we can do from there." Damien looked at his dog, then back at Tristan. "From there, I am playing it by ear because I have never gotten this far."
-
imsoclueless Senior"Wait, you're serious? So, like, do I have a guardian angel watching over me or something??" Tristan asked, an excited grin appearing on their face. They paused and took a deep breath, composing themselves. "Look- I- I get that this is some sort of, 'life-or-death' situation, but- I'm not sure I believe you just yet," they spoke, walking over and standing in front of Damien. "But," they added, crossing their arms, "that doesn't mean I won't help you."
