You have to make sure you're typing right on the letters. You can trick the spell check, too. >:3 I got mine to remember 'Kanda' instead of changing it to 'Kansas' or something.

I've never typed on an iPod or anything touch-screen b4- besides a GPS...but I've heard of the auto-correct setting. I believe that there's a way that you can shut it off: just go to the settings page and press the texting APP. That's what I would do, if it was possible.
