Thread Topic: Would talking about periods be against the rules?
-
That is the point I was trying to make, so sorry if it sounded extremely odd
-
Periods are a natural body function. Talking about dick sizes is gross, and bordering on sexual.Moderator
-
Yeah. ^ *Shudders*
-
I was not going to talk EVER about it, but I was trying to get a point across. Does this new exception allow ANY talk about bodily functions?
-
I'm not sure, I guess it depends on what you're asking about
-
Like, when do the exceptions end? I just wanna know so that I can get an idea of what people talk about; I am not against periods talk, I just don’t want people to be like ‘oh they can talk about a, so I could talk about b!’ And stuff like that, I hope you understand my concern
-
@dav, very sorry for disturbing you 🥺😣😟

There's no clear line in the sand as far as what's too far and what isn't, we just ask that you all use your best judgment. The rules of the website state it must be kept PG13, but that's still pretty vague. If someone does say something that crosses the line, there likely won't be a penalty unless it was obviously too much. We understand that the rules are vague and we try not to be too harsh unless necessary

@the1foru Periods are not sexual in nature. They are a normal bodily function for girls and it's something that can be very difficult for girls to discuss, so providing a safe place for them to do so is important. If talking about it makes you feel weird I'd encourage you to not engage with people talking about it, and also if you're comfortable, go ahead and do some research on it. An alarming amount of men do not understand female reproductive cycles and it can make them feel exceptionally confused or grossed out by it but it's really not that gross or weird at all.
As far as other talk goes, anything that borders on sexual discussion shouldn't be okay. The only context in which your size matters is a sexual one so you probably shouldn't talk about it here. The same way you probably shouldn't talk about your breast size, although that isn't quite as inherently sexual. Talking about other body changes is fine, so long as the context behind it isn't sexual in nature.
Or at least that's my perspective on it. I can see how this is kinda a messy topic. In general, I'd say that if you have to question whether or not you should talk about something, the answer is probably no. If it's something important about your health or another concern you're having that you feel uncomfortable sharing with everyone you can always PM someone you trust or reach out to someone in real life because odds are they will probably be able to help you better. This can include sexuality questioning, depressive moods or behaviours, substance or home abuse, or any other number of distressing content.
Anyways correct me if I'm wrong but that's my perspective on the issue at least! -
I agree with your respective thank you for saying your opinion! So basically, body changes, nothing sexual?
-
I was not going to really get in to this talk again, Ian’s I want you to know that. I just did not want other people talking about it
-
*again(why Ian’s? I hate autocorrect lol)
-
Why did I type again in a different spot on that post? This tablet is wierd
But srs, I want to know -
I … don’t think anyone was looking to talk about that other thing. Smh. Y’all just use common sense on these forums and the internet
Stay safe
