Thread Topic: AI "Art"
-
I've noticed some AI generated images being posted here in the art forum, so I wanted to address it.
I want to preface this by saying I'm not throwing shade at anyone! I don't think anyone here that's using AI generators is aware of the unethical points of it, and this is not intended as a call out. I just want you all to be as well informed as possible so you can make choices that align with your values.
I'm not an expert on this subject. I might be missing some other important and equally problematic aspects of the practice here- and I welcome corrections or helpful additions. With that said, here are the main two problems I know of with using AI to create "art":
1. Doing this takes business away from small artists that could create something a million times more coherent and finely customized for you. Robots don't have bills to pay.
2. Even if you were never going to pay an artist to do your request for you, it can't be ignored that AI generated "art" steals from real artists. The imagery used in AI generated images is often stolen from aspects of pieces done by them, and they will never be compensated for that. While it's easy to say it doesn't matter that you're getting your art for free because you didn't have the money in the first place, this practice actively harms and takes away from real artists. There is no ethical consumption of AI generated "art". -
THANK YOU for this
i think overall ai art jus shouldn’t exist as a whole. like ppl enjoy art, animation, writing, etc., we don’t need ai to replace that
if anything should be replaced by ai, it should be work, not genuine hobbies -
AI is a good tool to use for drawing yo help you envision what you want your piece to look like, but it probably shouldn't be posted in the art forum (at least not without a disclaimer saying it is AI)

Hi Spice, I noticed this thread and popped in.
I have put disclaimers in the AI art I've posted and I haven't posted in other's threads, only my own.
I'm sorry I may have offended you by posting it, I will keep in to put in disclaimers in future (even though I already have been).
